Types of Support in Your NDIS Plan

There are 3 types of support budgets that can be funded into your NDIS Plan:

  1. Core Supports. Core supports help you with every day activities and depending on your current disability-related needs can be tailored towards your goals. Under core supports, the budget is the most flexible, so generally you can use your budget across several support categories such as care support and household maintenance such as lawn mowing or cleaning. However, please note that there are some instances where the core funding isn’t flexible, such as for transport funding.
  2. Capacity Building Support. Capacity Building Supports help build your independence and skills to achieve your goals. Unlike the Core Supports, Capacity Building Supports is designed specifically that fall within this category. This includes support such as: Support Coordination; Improved Living Arrangements; and Finding and keeping a job.
  3. Capital Supports. Capital Supports include higher cost products such as assistive technology, equipment and home or vehicle modifications, and even one-off purchases. Purchases from this funding can only be used for its specific purpose. There are 2 categories under Capital Supports: 1. Assistive Technology; and 2. Home Modifications.
